How to Block a website.

                                                             Sometimes it becomes necessary  for parents to block some websites, so that their kids don't run into unwanted sites. Ya i'm also a kid myself, and so i learned this when some of the sites like orkut Were blocked at our school. So i found out how they had been blocked. And also of course i unlocked them. I'll discuss the unlocking process in my next post. Now only i'm posting the LOCKING PROCESS.

                                                               First You need to go to your HOST File. They are located at

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC for Vista and XP
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC for Win 2000
C:\WINDOWS for Windows 98 and ME

Open This with notepad. 

The default host looks like this:

Now Directly below the line "127.0.0.1 localhost" You need to type

127.0.0.1 name of the URL you want to block

For Example:

127.0.0.1 orkut.com
127.0.0.1 www.orkut.com

Note* Its necessary to type the website name twice . Once without www And second time with www.

Now Close notepad and answer " Yes " when prompted.

You are done.
